If you struggle with mobility and dexterity, there are many different features of mobiles which can help you to access them. We do recommend that you invest in a smartphone as they provide many more features to make them more accessible.
Most mobiles have the ability to be able to control them with your voice. For Apple mobiles this is through the use of Siri and for Android users it is through Google Assistant. This is pre-installed software which comes with the device and can enable you to complete many different tasks. Here are a few examples:
- Call someone in your phonebook just by saying their name
- Use voice commands to search the internet
- Dictate text messages and emails
- Use your voice to open applications
- Use your voice to record notes for reminders or messages.
There are many useful apps which can be downloaded onto smartphones for users with limited dexterity or mobility. Two apps which we recommend are Jaccede or Wheelmap which help you to find accessible paces when out and about. There are also other computer features such as adjusting font, colour and screen reading settings and you can set up voice recognition.
If you struggle with mobility and dexterity then we’d recommend that you go for a smartphone sure to the variety of apps you can download. This enables you to personalise the smartphone for your needs. There are so many fantastic apps available out there which we will be writing about in the future so make sure to keep a look out.
